It’s artistic not just functional.
Will see how long those cubes of real wood will stay pressed together. But the quality of the wood it’s real ! Made with real wood !!! Not paper , no press plywood.
These boards are clearly seconds repackaged to look attractive. I give the seller a lot of credit for the presentation. That said, as a full-time woodworker, I added tiger maple and walnut borders, and refinished the entire board. I understand the difficulty in making the blocking squares, so I can’t be that critical of the offsets.
The board is absolutely beautiful. My wifes father left her a chess set but the board which housed the pieces broke so this replacement was wonderful and she loves it.
The board wood finishing is great and is well crafted. It came very well packed and with pretty cover.
